What is a domain transfer?

A domain transfer means moving your existing domain (e.g. yourdomain.hu or yourdomain.com) to another registrar. The domain remains yours — only its management is moved to the new provider. From then on, you’ll handle renewals, DNS settings, redirects, and possibly WHOIS protection with the new provider. It’s worth it if you find a better price, clearer fees, or if your current provider is slow and difficult to deal with. It’s usually not complicated: you start the process, enter the required identifier/code, and after a few steps you manage the domain at the new place.

What is the domain transfer process at URI webTECH?

Basically, it’s a simple provider change: the domain stays yours, you only move the management to us — and you can do it online in a few quick steps via our my.uriweb.hu system.

• ✔ Go to the order interface, click here, and enter the domain name you want to transfer.
• ✔ Type in the domain (e.g. company.hu), then the system checks whether it can be transferred.
• ✔ Enter the required details: owner/contact details, billing (for companies: company details).
• ✔ Approval / verification: for .hu domains (and also international domains), and for the latter you’ll need a security code as well, which your current registrar/domain provider can give you.
• ✔ You receive the pro forma invoice, pay online by card, and our my.uriweb.hu system automatically creates the order and starts the process.
• ✔ At the end, the domain is transferred, and from then on you manage everything in one place: renewals, DNS, redirects, email-related records — all in your account.

• ✔ In fast cases, 24–48 hours can be enough, but it always depends on administration and confirmations.
• ✔ For international domains, 1–7 days is a realistic timeframe, often around 3–5 days.
• ✔ What matters most: have the Auth/EPP code (if needed), and make sure the admin email/approval is correct — that’s what makes it fast and smooth.
• ✔ What can slow it down: incorrect/mismatching owner details, missing approval, a locked domain, or delays at the old provider when handing over the domain.

What fees can occur during a domain transfer?

The transfer fee depends on whether you’re moving a .hu domain or an international TLD (.com, .net, .org, .eu, etc.). The good news: it’s usually not about “hidden costs”, but a few typical items. • ✔ Transfer fee: this is the main item you pay to move the domain.
• ✔ Renewal included with the transfer: for many international domains, the transfer price often includes +1 year of renewal.
• ✔ For .hu domains, the fee is typically related to transfer and maintenance; you’ll see the exact item during ordering.
• ✔ Optional add-ons: if you choose them, they may be billed separately (e.g. WHOIS protection, extra DNS services, special security features).
• ✔ Important: your old provider may charge separately for certain admin steps (e.g. data changes), so it’s worth checking quickly with them as well.

What documents are needed for a domain transfer?

• ✔ For international domains, you may need a transfer code (AUTH/EPP code), which your current provider can issue.
